Pastoral Care Team
The goal of Pastoral Care is to provide a ministry of hope and caring so that no member or friend of the fellowship needs to suffer or struggle alone through life’s hard times. Members of the Pastoral Care Team are available to support those who would welcome a visit or who are experiencing difficult circumstances or times of transition.
Pastoral Care Team members may visit members who are ill at home or in the hospital, support those who are going through a major life transition or personal crisis, maintain contact with those unable to attend church due to illness or disability, support family and friends involved in caregiving; comfort the bereaved; provide the support that is ongoing; assist with spiritual support; and help a person find additional resources they need.

“As long as I can remember, I have done volunteer work. While living here in Fredericksburg, I have volunteered at Mary Washington Hospital and have been a docent at the National Museum of the Marine Corps. I feel we all can help and lift each other up in one way or another. When we do, we then become better for it, and everyone benefits. “

Lovingkindness (metta) has been a significant element of my spiritual practice for a long time. Bringing kindness and caring to those in the UUFF community feels like one way to pay forward what I have received here. Being known as ‘Farmer Bill’ by the younger members of this community is appropriate as I love to garden and to cook the harvest.

Being a member of pastoral care gives me great joy in helping others and being a part of something bigger than myself.
I’ve been a member of the pastoral care team since 2019. Virginian native raised in the UU since middle school. My passion for helping others started in my teens and continued as I grew up and became a CNA. I now have children who bring me even more joy, and I am raising them at UUFF.
