Madison Minvielle is a senior at the University of Mary Washington majoring in ACS Certified Chemistry with a minor in Spanish. She is the pianist for the UMW Philharmonic and has been studying piano with Dr. Robert Wells at UMW since the Fall of 2019. Maddy began piano lessons at age six and, by age 8, began playing in churches, retirement homes, holiday parties, and other events.
She began focusing on classical repertoire shortly after that and continued with the works of Chopin, Rachmaninoff, and Bach until college. After resuming college piano lessons, she began exploring 20th-century composers like Alberto Ginastera and George Gershwin. Since starting classes at UMW, Maddy has participated in several masterclasses, juries, studio recitals, performance workshops, and concerts with the UMW Philharmonic and UMW Concert Band. Outside of piano, Maddy is a research student in the Department of Chemistry and Physics at UMW, and she competes in local horse shows with her horse, Chesa.
